Today I thought I’d share one of the first maternity shoots I ever did with Tracy and her lovely bump.
Maternity photo shoots are becoming more and more popular with pregnant women and I think they are beautiful. In fact, I had my very own indoor maternity photo shoot on Friday and Rich and the dog joined in. It was very strange being the one in front of the camera for once and it’s really made me appreciate how awkward it can feel having your photo taken! But I also felt extremely feminine and dare I say it, even beautiful at times.
If you read my personal blog you will know I haven’t really enjoyed being pregnant and haven’t been keen on the changes to my body. So why have a maternity shoot if you’re not happy with the way you look you may wonder?
Well, the number of friends I have who tell me they miss their bumps is unbelievable so having a maternity photo shoot was something I knew I just had to do. And I’m glad I did because when Katrina from Captured By Katrina sent us a few sneak peeks (below) I was so happy! I can’t wait to see the rest. When I shared these images on Facebook someone commented saying how I will love these photos for the rest of my life and so would my child. She also said she would love to have a photo of her own mother like this, which is such a lovely thought don’t you think? Another reason why I’m very happy Katrina has captured such a special moment in my life, even if I don’t enjoy being pregnant!
Anyway, back to Tracy and her perfectly rounded bump. We did the shoot in the comfort of Tracy’s own bedroom as the weather wasn’t great that day. Having a well-lit, predominantly white bedroom is definitely beneficial when shooting a maternity session, which is why I am now going to start offering my own home out when booking maternity shoots. Our bedroom was perfect for our session and it means my clients have an alternative option if the weather is bad or if they feel like their own home isn’t suitable.
Tracy was a natural on the day of her shoot and we used a number of different outfits to add variety to the session. We also included her partner and little girl into some of the shots, which can be a really nice way to get Dad-to-be and any other children involved and excited about the arrival of the new baby.
Here are some images from Tracy’s shoot. Oh and if you’re wondering, yes that is the same lace dress as the one I’m wearing in my shoot. I bought it especially for anyone who wants to wear it during their maternity photo shoot.
Book your very own maternity photo shoot from as little as £95. Bump to newborn shoots are also available. Contact me for more details.
