I first met Lauren and Aaron last year in the De Vere Hotel Starbucks where we sipped on milky lattes and talked about their wedding plans. When they told me they were planning to hold their special day at The Great Tythe Barn in Tetbury, I got a little bit excited.
I actually shot a wedding at The great Tythe Barn a few years back and what I love most about this gorgeous venue is that everything is all in one place. Brides, Grooms and all family members can get ready here and really make an amazing day of it from start to finish. Other appealing factors about this venue is that it’s a barn and that always goes down well with me as a photographer! The grounds are picture perfect and there’s even two beautiful donkeys grazing in the paddocks next to the barn.
When I arrived on the day, it was like stepping into a dream. After finding Lauren to let her know I’d arrived, I had a little sneak peek into the barn where friends and family members were busily pulling together to create the vision Lauren had been planning for months. It was utterly gorgeous! Lauren did an amazing job at creating a wedding with a rustic, countryside feel to it– think white and blue hydrangeas spilling out of glass jars and wooden crates, an elegant lace-backed dress from All About Eve Bridal, mismatched pastel blue bridesmaids gowns, delicious macaroon favours made by Lauren and her sister Beth and a beautiful 3 tier white wedding cake. Lauren and her bridesmaids all wore flats, which fitted in perfectly with this relaxed yet elegant themed wedding.
I think my favourite and most memorable part of this very special day were listening and capturing the speeches. Lauren’s Dad delivered such a beautiful speech about his daughter and the emotion could be felt all through room. It really was one of the loveliest speeches I’m yet to hear.
I was very lucky to be able to work alongside Katrina Bartlam from Captured by Katrina as Lauren and Aaron opted for a second shooter to capture Aaron and his groomsmen getting ready in the house opposite the barn. Katrina’s work is beautiful and I hope to get the chance to work with her some more next year!
