I met Alexis a few years back at one of the Zumba classes I used to teach and I was thrilled when she contacted me about her Spanish themed wedding at The Hare & Hounds. I mean, not only is Alexis stunning but her wedding plans sounded like music to my ears because The Hare & Hounds is such a gorgeous wedding venue, one which boasts beautiful grounds.
Alexis married her fiancé Andy at Sopworth Church back in August on one of the most beautiful days of the year and afterwards they headed over to the picturesque grounds of The Hare and Hounds to enjoy canapes and drinks on the lawn with some of their favourite people.
Sopworth church is small but beautiful and was the only choice for Alexis and Andy as Andy’s ancestors– all the way back to 1862– were married at this same church! It was tradition for the groom to pick the bride up and carry her over the little wooden gate and Alexis and Andy carried this tradition on for their own special day. And I was there to capture it all! It was very clear to me on the day that these two share something extremely amazing– so much love and passion for one another, making my job as a wedding photographer a very enjoyable one!
Alexis and her bridesmaids are Spanish and this was the first wedding I’d been to where another culture was a huge part of the day. And it was amazing, let me tell you.
All day I watched in awe as the Spanish girls laughed, ate, drank, cried and danced their way through the day, their laughter and joy was infectious. I decided that day that living in warmer climates does something to people’s souls, giving them an energy for life that we seem to lack over here in rainy England!
The Hare & Hounds really is a lovely wedding venue and I have to say they really looked after the videographer James and I when it came to lunch time! Sitting outside in the sunshine enjoying some tasty fish and creamy potatoes was quite possibly the highlight of my day, although I’m not sure this is something I’m meant to admit? What can I say, I’m a total foodie and love nothing more than an alfresco meal!
For this wedding I actually photographed the groom prep instead of the bridal prep, which is something I would normally bring in a second shooter for but Alexis had one of her Spanish friends cover the bridal prep, leaving me free to go over and see what the boys were up to!
Here are a few images from the day.
